3 REASONS FOR YOUR HEATING SYSTEMS POOR PERFORMANCE

Sometimes our investment doesn’t meet up to our expectations which can be frustrating and costly.

We’ve listed 3 possible reasons for your heating systems poor performance

Poor Servicing/Maintenance

This may seem like a pretty obvious reason for poor performance, but stay with us, because this isn’t an obvious solution for those of you who already invest in annual servicing on their boilers.

If your boiler isn’t being serviced as regularly or thoroughly as the manufacturers suggest, then you’re going to have performance issues. Here are some things you should be checking to safe guard against poor servicing.

  1. Is all of your plant room equipment being serviced? Pumps and water tanks etc often require servicing too – check the manuals of your plant room equipment for servicing guidelines.
  2. Does your boiler require more than 1 service every year? Your boiler manual will often give a “service required every [X] run hours” – you be over the recommended run hours, which could be causing the performance issues.

Poorly Designed System

If your heating system is over or undersized, your boiler could be under performing.

An oversized system will short cycle, turning on and off more frequently to meet your heat and hot water needs, most likely consuming more fuel and wearing parts, shortening the life of your boiler.

An undersized system will work continuously, causing your boiler to breakdown and wear parts.

If you suspect your system isn’t performing as it should, getting a second opinion on the suitability of your heating solution from a trusted M&E team could pinpoint where you can improve performance.

You’re Not Managing Your System

Visualising your heating solution is key to achieving and maintaining an efficient system.

A smart BEM solution, such as Minibems controls your actual heat demand, not just temperature. Monitoring pumps, tanks, water flow etc allows you to see exactly what your system is doing and a smart BEM tool will also alert you to errors allowing you to resolve issues before a loss of heat or further damage occurs.

Minibems gives you maximum control of your heating system and maximises efficiency. You can find out more here:
